Also, there are people who for some personal reasons took jobs that they didn’t like or didn’t want to do in the first place. Even if you have in your selected career, you could end up feeling that you need the change. Whether you are deciding to change career or starting your own business, never decide in haste. As changing career is a huge step for anyone and doing so without careful consideration or planning have the potential to ruin your life.

Before you set your heart on making the switch from your current job to your dream job/career, make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Hopefully, this article will help you in your quest to find the right answer.

• You Want To Live Your Dream: It’s possible like many other you are doing a job; you didn’t want to do because while growing up you had a dream becoming something else. For example, you wanted to be an animator but ended up being as a banker. In such scenario, you can do something to make your dream a reality. You can learn the craft and can pursue your passion.

• Job Is Highly Stressful: There are certain jobs that can be highly stressful. You might have enjoyed all the commotion in the beginning but if you are starting to feel as if you can no longer cope with stress 24/7 and you aren’t enjoying work, then do consider changing your job. Too much stress anyways is not good for mental and physical health.

• Desire to Earn More: It’s possible that your current job suited you few years ago and you were satisfied with the money as well. However, life can change over the period of time such as you might not be single anymore and need more money for your family. Either you can wait for promotion along with increase in salary or you can move on to a better job in some other company.

• No Chance of Growth Professionally: Not having enough opportunities to grow professionally could also be the reason. If you are certain that you will not be promoted to a better position even in coming years, then go for the change.

• You Are Victim of Office Politics: Firstly, understand that office politics is part of every job/career, you cannot escape it. Though, in companies it’s on lesser scale while on others it’s inescapable. If you are being targeted by co-worker or authority in your present job, it makes sense to leave and start somewhere else.

Why You Should Not Change Your Career:

• You had a fight with a co-worker and isn’t in the mood to reconcile. However, throwing away your job is not the answer. Solve the issue and see if you can co-exist.
• You are bored doing same job day in and day out. Now this shouldn’t be the reason to quit your job. Take a leave from work and freshen up before deciding to quit.
• Don’t change job/career because everyone around is pressuring you to do it. If you enjoy doing your job then keep it.
• You want to change job/career because your friend did it and is a successful business owner. Just because someone else succeeded in something doesn’t mean you too will.
• You don’t have the necessary education/skills to make the transition.

Lastly, have a back plan, like what would you do if everything not went as you have planned with your career change idea. Set realistic achievable goals for your career and do research before making any decision.

Good with the Change!
